About
I’m Anjali Kothari, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I was born and raised in India. At eighteen, I moved to England for college where I gained a PhD in the Sociology of the Family from the University of London. My dissertation research explored the changing roles and relationships of women in middle class Indian families within the context of globalization. Through this work, I developed a deep interest in the ways our family relationships influence us as individuals.
After moving to the United States, I completed my clinical training in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Connecticut. Prior to opening my own practice, I worked at The Bridge Family Center in West Hartford, CT, providing outpatient counseling to clients in the community and in-school counseling to students in West Hartford Public Schools.
Currently, I work with individuals and families in my private practice with a particular focus on grief and loss. Additionally, I particularly enjoy working with South Asian and Indian American clients experiencing life stressors and acculturation issues.
If you’d like to hear more about my approach to working with clients, I welcome you to contact me for a free consultation so we can see if we’re a good fit.
